Secret to happiness.
“It’s a secret recipe to happiness”, my mom said when the 6-year-old me burst into tears as everyone in her class bullied her. It was some tomatoes, garlic, salt and ignorance. In Thomas Gray’s words and my mom’s belief, ignorance is bliss, that’s what she told me and that’s what worked for a 6-year-old who was having troubles adjusting to the world. Back then it was puzzling for my little mind to process but as I grew up, the secret sauce to happiness had an addition: acceptance, of myself as a person and the situation, as a probable challenge rather than a threat. Just by mere acceptance of myself, all those insecurities that I harboured throughout these years seemed irrelevant and illogical. My perspective towards a problematic situation changed once I accepted its Prescence, my focus shifted from “what happened to me “to “What I can offer to myself“. As I further mature, I suppose Happiness is an emotion of contentment. This very notion to the secret to happiness changes at every milestone in life and therefore I believe that happiness is not a one-word answer but a 1000-word essay of peace and love. “SELF IS THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS”, I SAY.
