Amongst a plethora of unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant challenge was that an increasing no. of senior citizens were forced to live alone, while only being digitally connected to their loved ones. Often, due to the age factor, they tend to forget to take the prescribed medication in time, which considerably increases risks for them. 

Thereby, to make it easier for them to remember to take these medicines on time, I developed the smart medicine box MEDBOx. This AI-enabled medicine box is feature-loaded, with some of its prominent features consisting- suggestions to the patient to re-order the medicine when a particular medicine is about to run out of stock; and predict if the patient is taking overdose/unnecessary medicines which he or she might get addicted to. Additionally, the MEDBOx would notify selected contacts if the medicine has not been taken, in a specified duration and when a particular medicine is about to expire.

MEDBOx has many advantages, such as its easy usability, no requirement of technical skills in handling and cost-effectiveness, amongst others. This project was awarded second position in the "AI For Better India" SEWA program organized by IBM in collaboration with CBSE (National rank: second).
